Announcing Our New Executive Editor: Alexis Powell

The Quiet Ones is proud to announce that our very own Alexis Powell has been promoted to Executive Editor. Alexis has been one of our submission readers since 2023. A storyteller from California, Alexis is passionate about editorial work. She graduated from San Diego State University with a BS in Biology, has a Certificate in Publishing from the Denver Publishing Institute, and is most recently a graduate of the Vermont College of Fine Arts’ MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program.

Alexis comes to us with an already impressive wealth of editorial experience she’s earned at Torrey House Press where she serves as an editorial associate. 

She will be stepping up to replace Emily Young, who leaves The Quiet Ones after four years and nine issues to focus her creative energies on her writing career.

We’re excited to have Alexis take The Quiet Ones in bold new directions in the years ahead. Her professional background and her love of horror in all its forms ensures that our little zine that could will continue to grow – much like her own carnivorous plants – in ways both profound and frightening as we ride into the future.
